Stick a fork in me...
I'm done! I've turned in my pedagogy portfolio, my three revised poems with attached paper, graded all 44 student portfolios, and turned in the grade packets!
I didn't fail anyone, although I could have failed two students. I didn't want them to become the misery of someone else's English 101 next semester, just because they couldn't be bothered to show up to my class. I find it interesting that they're both sophomores, both guys, and both from Long Island. Do they have a special asshole breeding ground out there? One guy used his entire portfolio reflection paper to complain that he shouldn't be penalized for his lack of attendance, because class was filled with "busy work." Also, he said grad students don't have the experience necessary to control the class and therefore there shouldn't be an attendance policy so the bad kids could stay home. I should have failed his ass, but I let him slide with a C-. Charity just had a student that likened her asking him to rewrite his paper to asking Leonardo da Vinci to repaint the Mona Lisa, but with brighter colors. I probably don't even need to mention that he failed the first paper.
I have to come back in tomorrow to hand back portfolios, if anyone is actually planning to pick stuff up. But after that, I plan to sleep for 24 straight hours, clean the apartment from one end to the other, and then sleep for another 24 straight hours. Then I'm going to go home for Christmas, spend about two weeks hanging out with my family, and come home to rework my syllabus and get ready for semester number two, which has to be easier than this one.
